This is a poem / love letter I wrote for Buffy back in 2003 for her birthday.

Buffy,

I don’t have the resources to do what I would want to do for you, so I needed to be a little more creative. It seemed like a long time since you received a love poem from me, so my gift to you is little part of my love for you.

As Long As You Are By My Side

An evening thunderstorm,
Becomes a romantic night at home
As long as you are by my side

Watching the game alone on tv,
Becomes watching the game with my best friend,
As long as you are by my side

Dinner for one, alone at a restaurant
Becomes a romantic evening out
As long as you are by my side

The uncertainty of the future,
Becomes the adventure of the unknown
As long as you are by my side

The difficulties life throws at me,
Become manageable tests of faith
As long as you are by my side

Children unformed and without life,
Become men and women of God
As long as you are by my side

An uncertain, self destructive young man,
Becomes a strong man of God
As long as you are by my side

And finally…

Love, that indescribable resource of God,
Becomes a life sustaining reality in my life
As long as you are by my side
